VYPE: Tyjia, what grade are you in and what position are you playing?
Tyjia Sparks Jr.: I am in the 11th grade, and I play 3rd base.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Del City HS?
TS: What I love most about my team and teammates at Del City is the bond we have. We push each other to be better every day, and it feels like a family on and off the field.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
TS: Someone who inspires me is my family because they always support me and motivate me to keep going, no matter what challenges I face.
VYPE: What’s the toughest part about playing third base?
TS: The toughest part about playing my position is reacting quickly to hard-hit balls and always being ready since everything happens so fast, but it’s something I work on improving every day.
VYPE: Name a current or former teammate who left an impression on you?
TS: A teammate who left an impression on me is Jakobi Wormsly. He showed me what hard work and leadership look like and pushed me to be better.
VYPE: What is the strength of your game?
TS: The strength of my game is my defense and quick reactions at third base, and I’m currently working on improving my hitting and consistency at the plate.
VYPE: What does it mean to represent DCHS?
TS: Representing Del City HS is special to me because I get to play for my community and wear the school’s name with pride.
VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?
TS: After I graduate, I would like to play at the next level, go to college, pursue a career.
VYPE: Name three people you want with you if stranded on an island?
TS: If I were stranded on an island, I would want Jakobi, Josh, and Braxton with me.
