Edmond North’s Dani McTague – Golf Spotlight – Presented by The Chickasaw Nation

Edmond North’s Dani McTague

Junior golfer Dani McTague has quickly become one of the steady leaders for the Edmond North girls’ golf program, but her impact reaches well beyond the scorecard. At 16, the Edmond, Oklahoma, standout has already experienced national-level competition while also investing thousands of hours into community service and leadership.

McTague, who moved to Edmond North from Ada as a sophomore, said her family is the foundation of her success on and off the course. Her dad, a former collegiate golfer, first put a club in her hands and encouraged her to give the sport a try as a freshman. “If it weren’t for him, I would have never picked up a golf club,” she said. Her mom provides the

emotional balance, often recognizing when a round is starting to slip before Dani even says a word and helps her reset mentally. She also draws inspiration from her younger brother, Tyler, who shares her love for the game and pushes her during their practice sessions.

On the course, McTague leans on her favorite club, the 8-iron, which she calls the most reliable and versatile in her bag. It played a key role during the best tournament of her career, a 7-under performance at the Walter Hopper Tour Championship in August 2025, when she posted rounds of 66 and 67 with a combined 12 birdies and an eagle. “Each round felt almost effortless,” McTague said. “I was fully in the moment, trusting my swing and feeling confident in every shot.”

McTague helped Edmond North place 10th nationally at the PGA Girls High School Golf National Invitational at Pinehurst in 2025, an experience she called “incredibly special” because of the course’s history and the level of competition. She has also competed at the Notah Begay III Junior National Golf Championship at Koasati Pines in Louisiana, where she appeared on the Golf Channel and met Begay while representing the Chickasaw Nation.

Away from golf, McTague is a State 4-H Ambassador and the creator of “Dani’s Dream – Sharing the Love of Art,” a service project that has produced and donated more than 3,700 art bags to hospitals, schools and shelters since 2020. Through 4-H, she has logged more than 6,000 community service hours and teaches art workshops across Oklahoma, blending creativity, leadership and service much like she blends precision, poise and passion on the course.
