Having two student-athletes in the house is not rare, but it is a challenge. For Abby Davis, a mother of two, the rewards far outweigh the challenges.
“I enjoy volunteering because it lets me be involved with not only what’s important to my kids, but other kids as well,” said Davis.
Her two kids are involved in multiple activities. Sophomore Livia Davis is a member of the varsity softball team and a golfer for Midwest City High School, while her youngest, Collin Davis, is in the sixth grade and plays baseball. Davis said she pitches in wherever the teams and clubs need her.
“I take care of the concession stand and everything that comes with that. I help provide meals for away games, set up team pictures, and I organize senior night and the softball banquet, along with other parents and booster members,” said Davis.
Davis believes it’s important for parents to be part of their kids’ lives and said she is not the only parent in the Davis household who helps with Livia and Collin’s teams.
“I feel it’s important because it’s a way to show them you support them and their goals,” Davis said. “Their dad has played a huge part in helping support them with their sports and activities. I would also like to thank all the parent volunteers, Crystal Scott, and AnnMarie Brown.”
The former graduate of Checotah High School said being part of the Mid-Del family is exactly where they should be. “My kids were able to establish great friendships and the staff has always been very supportive.”
