Norman’s Emme Baker
VYPE: Emme, what grade are you in and what position do you play?
Emme Baker: I’m a sophomore and I play 2nd base for slow pitch softball, and I am a pitcher/utility for fast pitch softball.
VYPE: What’s the strength of your game and what are you working on to improve?
EB: Batting is a strength right now, its really fun to hit home runs. I’m working on being aggressive at second base and making the right decision for the play.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Norman?
EB: What I love most about my team is the trust and connection we have. Everyone shows up for each other, whether it’s pushing through tough practices or staying positive during challenging moments. My teammates make playing enjoyable because we can rely on one another, communicate honestly, and celebrate all of our successes together.
VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.
EB: My dad inspires me to play softball because he’s always believed in me and supported me from the very beginning. He’s spent time helping me practice and showed up to my games no matter what. His dedication and positivity push me to work harder and keep improving. More than that, he’s taught me important lessons about effort, perseverance, and having the right attitude. Even on tough days, he reminds me to stay focused and keep going. Seeing how much he cares and how proud he is motivates me.
VYPE: What current or former teammate left an impression on you and in what way?
EB: Salia Gardner who is about to graduate. She always has a positive attitude and supportive of the team.
VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate?
EB: I would love to play softball in college, while getting a degree in the medical field.
VYPE: What makes representing Norman special for you?
EB: What makes representing Norman special is the sense of pride and responsibility that comes with it. It’s not just about playing for myself, I’m playing for the people who supported me growing up, the coaches who invested in me, and my teammates that helped shape who I am as a player now.
