Bowlegs’ Cassius Krause – Student Spotlight – Presented by Gordon Cooper Technology Center

Current Bowlegs High School junior Cassius Krause is a member of the varsity football, baseball and weightlifting teams at BHS. Krause plays second base and pitches for the Bison. He said he loves being part of the team and the bond he shares with his teammates.

“I think it’s the bond we share. I’ve gone to school with most of them since kindergarten, so we’re more like family than just teammates. We’ve grown up together on and off the field and that trust shows in how we play and support each other. Whether we’re winning big or grinding through tough games, we always have each other’s backs. That kind of chemistry is rare, and it makes every season special,” said Krause.

From competing on the gridiron to the diamond, Krause said he has plenty of great memories for a lifetime, but there is an accomplishment he is proud of as an athlete.

“Being part of an amazing team across all our sports, especially winning the Class C State Weightlifting Meet this year. The trophy was awesome, and getting those big championship rings made it even more memorable but what means the most is the hard work and dedication we all put in to get there,” said Krause.

But the gym or field is not the only place Krause is focused and working hard. The classroom is another place where Krause excels and is taking courses at Mid America Tech.

“What I enjoy most about my Criminal Justice class at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech is the hands-on experience and real-world application of what we’re learning. The instructor has actual field experience, which makes the lessons way more engaging and relevant. We don’t just sit and read, we get to do mock crime scenes, practice investigation techniques, and learn about law enforcement procedures in a really interactive way,” said Krause.

These classes are preparing Krause for his future as a Lighthorse Police Officer.

My classes at Tech will give me a strong foundation to become a knowledgeable and prepared police officer. These classes help me understand the laws I’ll be enforcing, the rights of citizens, and the ethical responsibilities that come with wearing the badge. I’m learning how the justice system works from the ground up,” said Krause.
