EDMOND MEMORIAL BULLDOGS
Coach: JUSTIN MERIDETH
9-3
OFFENSE
Talk about a turnaround!! After seven straight losing seasons, coach Justin Meredith led his Bulldogs to the Class 6A-I state semifinals last year before they fell to eventual state champ Bixby, finishing with a 9-3 record. But offensively a lot of the firepower is gone this year with just two returning starters and there will be some big shoes to fill. “We have a very young but athletic offense with some great play makers,” said Meredith. First and foremost for Meredith, will be determining who will take over at quarterback with the graduation of David McComb, now at Kansas and considered one of the top QB prospects in the state in 2024. Memorial will run an 11/20 look on offense with a pair of running backs in Colton McComb (6-2, 215, Jr.) and Nick Booker (6-0, 210, Sr.). Between them they had 62 carries for 350 yards last year, an indication of just how much David McComb carried the offense. Whoever ends up doing the signal calling, they’ll be a pair of wide receivers ready to break the game open with a long-ball reception in Isaac Woodard (6-3, 190, Jr.) and Cam Quarrells (5-10, 180, Jr.). Memorial will also have to focus on replacing a lot of senior offensive line talent from last year.
DEFENSE
The Bulldogs will need to lean on their defense in 2025 where they return 10 starters. Colton McComb returns at linebacker where he led the team in tackles in 2024 with 102, 8.5 of those for loss and seven sacks. Joining him again in that critical linebacking spot will be Booker who recorded 67 stops and 4.5 tackles for loss last season and Bradyn Mc Gowen (6-0, 205, Sr.) who had 101 tackles last year. Manning the front line in Meredith’s 4-2-5 base defense will be Teagan Lesch (6-3, 230, Sr.) who terrorized quarterbacks last year with 7.5 sacks and Bruce “Trip” Roberts III (6-2, 270, Sr.). “Trip is very physical with his hands, quick off the ball unblockable, and he has an offer from Air Force,” said Meredith who is starting his 10th year at Memorial. Anchoring the secondary for the Bulldogs will be A.J. Roberts (5-9, 165, Sr.). While the offense tries to find its footing with a new cast of characters, it will be up to the experienced Bulldog defense to make life miserable for opposing offenses, particularly in the early going, for Memorial to continue the momentum they created last year.
