EDMOND NORTH HUSKIES
Coach: CARTER WHITSON
3-7
OFFENSE
In his second season at the helm of the Huskies football program, coach Carter Whitson continues the building process by adding to the coaching staff and getting the players to buy into the program. “Excited to build on the core of young talent that played a ton of snaps last year. Returning a ton of starters at key positions including four OL, QB, two WRs, TE, WLB, MLB, two CBs, and a DE,” said coach Whitson. With nine returning starters on offense, the Huskies are poised for a big year behind quarterback Chauncey Cravens (5-10, 160, Jr.) who threw for 1,427 yards and nine TDs. This is Cravens second season as the signal caller for North. “He will flourish under QB coach Joel Blumenthal and will reaffirm to coaches in our district that he will be a force to be reckoned with the next two years,” said coach Whitson. Will Lewallen (6-4, 230, Sr.) is back at tight end after a season ending injury last year. A three-sport starter, Lewallen is poised for a big season. Zay Roberson (5-8, 155, Jr.) rushed for 338 yards and five TDs last season. Roberson will handle the run duties with Reece Fisher (5-11, 165, Jr.) and AnTjuan Johnson (5-11, 155, Sr.) at wide receiver. Wyatt Knol (6-5, 230, So.) started nine games as a freshman at left tackle and already has an offer from UTEP. Expect more offers to come his way as he continues to grow and improve. “We will be in multiple personnel groups, using tempo, spread passing game, and relying on our four returning starters up front with our dual-threat quarterbacks to put ourselves on the attack each possession,” said Whitson.
DEFENSE
Cadriann Olds (6-3, 235, Jr.) notched 15 tackles for loss and four sacks last season. After gaining 25-pounds in the offseason, Olds is expected to become a highly recruited player for the Huskies. Opposing offensive coordinators will need to gameplan around Olds and his ability to get in the backfield. If Olds wasn’t enough to deal with at end, add Kaden Collins (6-2, 225, Jr.) at the opposite end. Like Olds, Collins will get in the backfield and cause problems for opposing offenses. The player who gets to attack the offense is RL Young (5-10, 225, Jr.) at middle linebacker. Young recorded 35 tackles last season and is expected to have another big season. Weakside linebacker Wick Kohmescher (6-2, 200, Jr.) can fly around the field making plays against the run or in the passing game. The secondary is strong with returning players like Freddie Nash (5-10, 180, Jr.) and Tatum Willis (5-11, 195, Sr.). “Bringing in a new Defensive Coordinator Tyler Caid will give our defense a new look, attitude, and mindset that will be based on attacking the QB and creating turnovers. We will have multiple explosive pass rushers with a 2-year starter at MLB setting the tone. Physical and fast,” said coach Whitson. The coaching staff includes Tyler Caid-DC, Joel Blumenthal-OC, Will Taylor-Co-DC, Austen DeWitt-RB, Andrew Dawson-DL, Mike Baldwin-CB, Omari Cole-FS, and Collin Clay-DL.
