DEER CREEK ANTLERS
Coach: WADE STANDLEY
8-4
OFFENSE
The Antlers may only return three starters back on offense, but the team is focused and head coach Wade Standley has them fired up to go compete when they step onto the field. Three-sport athlete Jalen Davis (5-10, 165, Sr.) will start both ways for DC and will be an impact player. Coach Standley said Davis made 56 receptions for 898 yards and six touchdowns last season. His production is critical for the offense to move the ball and score points. The same can be said for running back Lemar Davis (5-8, 170, Sr.). Last season as a junior, Davis rushed for 800 yards on 121 carries and scored six TDs of his own. The tandem will likely carry the load for the Antlers. Gage Gibbons (5-9, 170, Jr.) will see time at WR alongside Josh Kerstetter (5-11, 160, Sr.). Look for offensive coordinator Austin Embrey to get creative with Mason Mayhew (6-0, 175, So.) and Visanio Boyd (5-10, 165, Sr.). Both players bring tremendous athleticism to the field for Deer Creek. The offensive coaching staff includes Noah Cornell – TEs, Micah Haggerty – WRs, Bentley Bross – WRs, Kent Hixson – RBs, and Rod Wolfard – OL/Run Game Coordinator.
DEFENSE
Defensive coordinator Howard Scarborough will lean on a salty group of players to be the nucleus of a defense that looks to swarm to the ball and fly around the field making plays. Ryan Kiel (6-3, 230, Jr.) and Alex Nkepang (6-2, 235, Sr.) are disruptive and a real nuisance at defensive end. Both guys can set the edge and they know how to disrupt the offensive backfield. Everything starts with their play off the line. Ryan Hubble (5-9, 170, Sr.) has the speed to track down running backs and the physicality to meet them in the hole. Expect Hubble to help some younger players get lined up and mature into their roles on defense. Luke Bray (5-10, 175, Sr.) is a versatile player who can help the defense in multiple ways. From playing in the secondary to attacking the QB on a blitz, Bray has the ability to adjust his game to what the team needs. The defensive coaching staff includes Evan Sprayberry – LBs/Special Teams Coordinator, Louis Cottone – OLBs, and Isaiah Byrd – DL.
