NOBLE BEARS

Coach: GREG GEORGE

4-7

OFFENSE
It’s going to be an interesting season for the Noble Bears and head coach Greg George. With several competitive teams in the district, coach George believes the Bears have a chance to make the playoffs this season. “Feel like we have a good shot to make playoffs. I think there are four teams fighting for two spots and we are one of the four. I believe same scenario as last year. Our kids have had a really good off-season and are getting better thru the spring. Very optimistic,” said coach George. Two-way starter Seth Wilson (5-7, 160, Sr.) is one reason for the optimism. Wilson made 29 receptions for 452 yards and four TDs last season. Wilson will be the No.1 target for quarterback Jackson Steely (5-10, 175, Sr.). Steely accounted for 1,460 yards on 92 completions and 10 scores. Steely has the talent to get the ball downfield or run to move the chains. Controlling the offensive line are Logan Clark (6-2, 250, Sr.), Garrett Wilson (6-2, 275, Sr.), and Josh Hart (5-11, 255, Sr.). Even though the Bears will line up in a spread offense, look for coach George to lean on the big guys up front when it matters most. Short throws will allow playmakers to get out in space and make things happen offensively.

DEFENSE

Six starters are back for the Bear defense including Seth Wilson who gets the start at free safety. Wilson will patrol the secondary while cornerback Nate Standridge (5-11, 165, Sr.) looks to lock down one side of the field. A pair of outside linebackers will cause problems for opposing teams looking to capitalize on the inside passing game or slip running backs to the edge. Andrew Holmes (6-1, 200, Sr.) and Jordan Cox (5-11, 160, Sr.) are quick and play hard to the ball. Holmes refuses to be outworked and brings leadership to the defensive unit. Koen Soell (So.) has a chance to help the team in several ways this season. Soell can play OLB or safety as well as WR on offense. In the trenches the Bears will depend on Charles Haven (5-11, 220, Sr.) to add pressure against opposing QBs and find work on the opponent’s side of the line of scrimmage. Tristan Hayes is another player who can help the Bears this season on both sides of the ball. The coaching staff includes Tyler Solomon-OC, Tommy Hand-OL, Coach Keathly-QB, Scott Ward-WR, Ray Crawley-DC, Eric Hughes-DB/S, and Britt Jones-OLB.
