Community Christian’s Jaiden Cox
By Mike Moguin
Jaiden Cox is the definition of a team guy. That’s the word according to his coaches and teammates at Community Christian School in Norman, and that pushed the junior athlete into a leadership role for his team.
Cox is a two-sport athlete for the Norman-based private institution, playing football and basketball. He is also the junior class vice president and a member of National Honor Society. Family, teachers, and teammates have inspired Cox throughout his life, but most importantly, he makes sure the credit goes to the Creator.
“I’ve learned to always give God all the glory and that it doesn’t matter what team you play, you have to show up and give it your all because anything could happen,” Cox said.
Playing sports has taught him valuable lessons that will stick with him throughout his life. “To work hard, be a leader, and show up every day with a great attitude, ready to work and get better,” said Cox.
His great accomplishment so far in his high school career, he said, was “getting the game-sealing interception versus Dibble.” In that game, the Royals beat the Demons in a close game, 14-12.
A source of inspiration is his father, “because he has taught me everything, I know about both sports I play, and has always encouraged me to continue to improve in every aspect of the game, even when I think I already think I’m great at it. He always points out and critiques me on the little things so I can be the best player on the field or court.”
Iain Garmon is the teammate who has left the biggest impression on him, “because we do everything together and, he pushes me to get better daily.” Cox said.
When it comes to what Cox likes the most about representing his team, it is “to play for a great school and community,” he said.
