Community Christian School Mom of the Month : Donna Bowers – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman

At Community Christian School (CCS), football mom Donna Bowers makes every effort to ensure every player walks off the field knowing their worth. Driven by a deep love for the athletes, and with her son playing both football and baseball at CCS, Bowers saw an opportunity to get involved.

“I love the kids, and I want the best experience for them,” she shares.

A fitness instructor and physician’s assistant by profession, Bowers demonstrates a dedication to the team that goes beyond the average. From organizing meals and ordering equipment to coordinating team gatherings and helping with game day operations, she works behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. But her impact goes far beyond logistics.

“I text the kids before games and try to make them all feel important,” she says.

She aims to make every athlete feel seen and valued and understands that encouragement is just as important as coaching.

Her motivation is rooted in the school’s mission and a desire to see each student not only grow as an athlete but also cultivate a strong faith and unmatched character. She says the best reward is seeing their smiles and getting hugs from the boys—moments that remind her why she serves.

“I love the school’s mission and want to see the kids succeed and love God.”

Bowers also believes deeply in the power of parental involvement.

“Parents help so much with their support and constant love for the kids,” she explains. “We need [that] to have a successful program.”

She shares that being involved has strengthened her own faith and provided a deeper understanding of grace and love.

“This program has taught me love, faith, grace and [given me] a closer relationship to God,” Bowers reflects.

Among the many meaningful memories she’s collected, one game stands out: a hard-earned comeback win against Comanche.

“It was awesome,” Bowers exclaims.

That game symbolized the team’s dedication and unified purpose, while also reaffirming for Bowers the joy that can come from being a part of something bigger than yourself.

Donna Bowers saw football as an opportunity to selflessly pour into a generation of young people with love and intention. Her role may be largely behind the scenes, but her impact on the athletes is immeasurable.

Through every meal served, every encouraging message sent, and every celebration, she exemplifies her guiding values.
“Always do your best and do everything for God. You will succeed.”
