Q&A with Mustang’s Reese Poage – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Andrew Ruiz, Shelter Insurance

Mustang’s Reese Poage

VYPE: Reese, what grade are you in and what position do you play for the Mustang softball team?

Reese Poage: I’m a senior and I play utility and catcher.

VYPE: When did you start playing softball?

RP: I first started playing softball at age five in t-ball.

VYPE: What are your expectations for this season?

RP: I expect for us to make it far in the state tournament, and not accept our final game as a loss. I think 6A fastpitch is very open this year and we have the potential to take the title.

VYPE: What do you love most about this team?

RP: I love how we can make it through adversity as a team and bounce back after a loss. We are also good at making in-game adjustments and fighting through the last pitch.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

RP: My relationship with Jesus and my friends who push me closer to God. They remind me that my purpose is much greater than softball, and they help me to find the joy within the sport.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school or a favorite teacher?

RP: My favorite subject is science, and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Kelley from sophomore chemistry.

VYPE: Do you belong to any other clubs or groups at school?

RP: I am in National Honor Society and PCLC.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

RP: I like to hang out with my friends and listen to music. I love to play the guitar and sing worship songs with my friends.

VYPE: What are your plans for life after high school?

RP: I am planning on playing softball at Oklahoma State and starting my pre-med journey. I would like to join a radiology program and become a radiologist.
