Edmond Memorial’s Keegan Baker – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Land Run Links

Keegan Baker has been hailed by her coach as one of the top players in the class, the Edmond Memorial High School senior softball pitcher knows her boundaries when she is on the mound.

“The best advice I have been given is to control what you can control,” Baker said. “You can’t control the umpires, the other team, or even your teammates. But you can control yourself, your attitude, and your effort.”

Playing softball has taught Baker how to battle through conflict.

“It has given me confidence and helped me learn how to be a good leader and teammate,” she said.

Her favorite moment on the field was bringing a title to Memorial High School.

“I am most proud of the moment when we won the state championship,” Baker said.

That was in her freshman season of 2022, when the Bulldogs captured the Class 6A softball state title.

Off the softball diamond, Baker is involved with Edmond Memorial’s FCW group.

“I am a part of the leadership team, and I have learned so much about being a child of God in this group,” she said.  She also enjoys many outdoor activities, being competitive, and likes to cook and read.

And when it comes to a favorite team, “I think I might be a little biased on this one, but OU is definitely my all-time favorite college softball team,” Baker said.

From teammates, mentors, to family, Baker has people who have had a big influence on her life. In the classroom, Baker has her favorites as well.

“My teammate and catcher, Hannah, has been such an inspiration to me. I have watched her grow so much from her freshman year, and she is a true competitor. She is a great teammate and friend,” said Baker. “My favorite teacher is one of my current teachers, Mrs. Middy. She has been so involved in my softball career and has given me such great advice. I have so many people in my life who inspire me, my family who push and are so involved in making me better. My teammates inspire me to be a better teammate, and my coaches push me to be better.”

Rest assured; Baker is happy to be an Edmond Memorial Bulldog.

“My high school is huge into athletics. Every sport at our school is competitive, and I have loved being a part of it,” she said. “It has been awesome to get to represent my program by being a part of such a successful team.”
