Momentum can define a senior season, and for Meeker standout Anna Standlee, that momentum comes from the goals she refuses to compromise on. As she steps into her final year wearing a Meeker uniform, she’s driven by purpose. “My personal goal this year is to make All State and be a leader on and off of the court by surpass my scoring total from last year,” she said. Her standards haven’t changed—only risen.
What makes this Meeker team competitive, Anna says, is what they accomplish together. “The team’s biggest strength this year is when we all play together, we have a good mixture of defense and all-around play.” Their progress has been clear from day one. “The biggest improvement I’ve seen from the team this year so far is more communication, dedication and most of all teamwork.”
The group is unified by a shared mission. “The team’s goal this year is to make it to state and break records at Meeker High School,” Anna said. And if they achieve that, she believes it will come from the identity they hang their hats on: “The team’s biggest strength right now is our defense. If we have a really good defensive stop, it always works out for us on the offensive side, and we score almost every time.”
Anna plays wherever her team needs her most. “I play the shooting guard and point guard position,” she said. When she’s reading defenses, she keeps it simple and effective: “I look for an opening lane that I can take.” And she prepares for those moments with intention. “I stretch a lot and work on my form.”
Her mindset remains one of her greatest strengths. “My mindset when I step on the court is to play with a purpose, next play no matter what and to be the first to everything whether that’s a loose ball or being the first back on defense.” It’s the foundation of the legacy she hopes to leave. “I want my legacy at Meeker to be remembered as the fierce guard that was unstoppable when I wanted to score, and a smart, tough leader.”

There’s history behind this team’s chemistry, too. “All of the seniors have spent years and years playing with each other since little league basketball… we are a team with a lot of confidence whether a game is in our favor or not.”
Anna keeps her pregame vibe consistent— “Stone by Alice in Chains or Meet Me Halfway by the Black Eyed Peas”—and her favorite memories include “my freshman year when we won our first game… and when we went as a team to Broken Bow for our summer camp this summer.”
Anna Standlee plans to attend Seminole State College to further her nursing degree and “hopefully run a business.”
