When the Santa Fe Wolves take the field this season, one of their go-to pitchers will bring a focus and determination rarely seen at this level.
Savion Sims is all business. His focus this season is getting strikeouts and helping his team win games.
“I look forward to pitching against the best teams in the state this season,” Sims said. “My strength in my game is my demeanor because staying calm and relaxed is something that comes natural to me. I’ve been working on being consistent in the strike zone and my off-speed pitches. I want to be the best pitcher to come out of Santa Fe.”
Sims believes in his team and the players around him.
“We have a really deep bullpen this year,” Sims said. “We as a team just need to do the simple things first and not overthink the game for what it is.”
Speaking of his teammates, Sims said the team has several keys players who not only get it done on the field but bring good energy to the dugout.
“Cole Britton has made huge steps since he has gotten stronger and been barreling balls to the fence constantly,” Sims said. “Aidan Allred is definitely the one that does all the jokes and the most serious is between Carson Brumbaugh and Hayden Towell.”
Preparing for competition is something Sims has down to a science.
“When I go to pitch, I listen to instrumental and jazz music because I like to stay loose and relaxed,” said Sims.
Sims had this parting shot before heading off to practice.
“Shout out to Omar Washington, Jeff Shelton, Ty Washington, Kris Webb, Todd Brown, Joe Tomlinson, Christian Doty, Frankie Danel, and Josh Richards.”
