Carl Albert’s Xavier Garcia
When Carl Albert High School’s Xavier Garcia takes to the court, he has one thing on his mind; helping his team win and making the most of every opportunity the opponent gives him on the court. To get locked in, Garcia said he likes to turn the music up.
“Before I play a game or play any competition, I put in my Air Pods; put them on loud, close my eyes and listen to music while I get ready and stretch, and before tip-off I pray,” said Garcia.
A senior for the Titans, Garcia can play multiple positions from guard to small forward. He started playing basketball when he was only in the first grade but making the finals his sophomore season is his favorite memory. Garcia said he’s ready to make a new memory.
“What I love most about my teammates is they are all goofy and they all know when to be serious but really, we all have a great relationship with each other so it makes it fun. No just basketball,” Garcia said. “A teammate that always keeps everyone laughing is most definitely Adrian Randle.”
Aside from playing with a great group of teammates, Garcia said one former teammate left an impression on him in a positive way and being part of the larger Carl Albert HS family is a big deal.
“I would say a teammate who has left an impression on me is my former teammate Jordan England,” Garcia said. “It’s a great all-around place but for me as a student-athlete. It’s great because myself and everyone is held to a higher standard.”
In the classroom, Garcia said his favorite subject is psychology which he plans to study in college while playing at the next level.
