Yukon’s Brayden Trogden
Brayden Trogden has become the kind of Yukon High School baseball player younger athletes can point to when they want to see what commitment looks like.
The senior pitcher and first baseman has built his game through long hours, family support and the steady example of players who showed him how to lead. Now, as he prepares to continue his career at Youngstown State University, Trogden said the chance to wear Yukon across his chest has meant just as much as any stat line.
“My favorite part of representing my school is being able to be a role model for younger students.”
That sense of responsibility did not happen by accident. Trogden said his biggest inspiration has always been his father, who helped shape both his love for baseball and his approach to life.
“My dad is my biggest inspiration,” Trogden said. “He has spent countless hours teaching me about baseball and him and my mom have taken me to games and tournaments all across the US. When I was playing little league baseball, I would always want to go to our neighborhood fields to practice. I would be waiting with my stuff when he came home from work. I am sure he was tired, but he never said no. Knowing I can always count on him, in baseball and in life, is priceless.”
Trogden also credits former teammate Luke Graham for helping him grow into the leader he wants to be.
“Luke Graham,” Trogden said. “He is the type of player and leader that I try to be to and for underclassmen. He took me in when he was a senior (I was a sophomore) and gave me confidence to contribute to the team. He is also the hardest worker I know.”
That support system extends well beyond the dugout. Trogden said his parents, brother, extended family, coaches, teammates and the Youngstown State coaching staff all played a role in helping him reach this point.
For Yukon, Trogden’s story is not just about a college commitment. It is about a player who learned from those around him, honored the people who invested in him and embraced the responsibility that comes with representing his school.
